FOLC Fest 2025: Principled Innovation, Leadership, and Learning
I had the privilege of serving as a panelist alongside ASU President Michael M. Crow at the Future of Learning Community (FOLC) Fest 2025, where we discussed the future of education. My contributions to ASU's Principled Innovation (PI) initiative include designing and developing an advanced AI application, which is set to launch in October 2025. This work is particularly meaningful as PI is a key design aspiration for ASU, reinforcing its reputation as a leading innovative university in the USA.
AI Salon: Women in AI and Educational Technology
At AI Salon, I had the pleasure of sharing my journey as a woman social scientist stepping into the AI space and developing GenAI tools for education. I presented three projects I've been working on: Policy Prism, a chatbot that explores K–12 educational policies from multiple stakeholder perspectives; SciLing Bot, which helps teachers create equitable, standards-aligned science lessons for multilingual students; and Principled Innovation Bot, which integrates ethical considerations into the innovation process. I also discussed why women's full participation in AI is essential for creating fairer, more inclusive, and impactful technology.

This study explores how pioneering faculty are incorporating Generative AI into higher education, highlighting both opportunities—like enhanced student engagement and instructional efficiency—and challenges, including ethical concerns and AI bias. Using real-world vignettes drawn from early adopters' experiences, this work provides actionable insights for educators looking to responsibly integrate GenAI into their teaching.
